IMPORTANCE OF STAGE DIRECTIONS IN A DRAMA AS PER VASTU

Stage directions are important as they give instructions for the actors to use on the stage giving clues when people should enter and exit, in turn providing an insight of the motivations and actions of the character.

The platform is normally divided into nine parts three vertical columns divided by three horizontal parallel lines. The row closest to the audience is called the downright, down centre, down left. The second row is divided as right, centre and left, furthest from the audience is divided into upper right, upper centre and upper left.

The integral part of the play script are the lines and the actions an actor is supposed to say or do. The directions of the play depend on the playwright. Shakespeare ignored some of these guidelines. Therefore viewing his work is preferable over reading them.

It is difficult to pinpoint when the first were put in use.

The purpose of stage direction

To direct the stage actors to tell them when to come in, how and where to stand and move around etc. Stage directions are useful as you can imagine.

How does an actor use stage directions?

The moment an actor learns the stage directions the moment they reach salvation.

Stage actions are literally the most convenient things on the planet, because they are ridiculously uncomplicated. If you are standing on a stage in a theatre, facing the audience you are in the centre of the stage. This is CENTRE STAGE.

Stage right and Stage left, your right is right stage and left is left stage.
