Vastu for Pooja Room

1)      Keep Pooja room in northeast and while praying your face should be towards east and not towards north.

2)      Don’t keep the Pooja sthan exactly in the corner of northeast.

3)      Keep dhoop or incense on the right side i.e. on the southeast while you face the Pooja and the copper pot should be on the left side i.e. on the north side while you face the Pooja god.

4)      Pooja mandir should not be of metal or plastic and should be of wood or marble.

5)      God idol should be kept 9” to 12’ above your sitting level. When you make a pedestal make sure that below that should be hollow and can have drawers to keep the holy books etc. The pedestal should not be heavy.

6)      The idol should not be more than 9” and should be made up of paper, clay, marble or wood. Idol of Shani can be made up of metal. Crystal idols are also good in Pooja room. Idol of god made up of glass, fiber or leather should not be used.

7)      Gods who are aggressive and hot tempered and represent power like Hanuman should face south

8)      There should not be a Pooja room in the bedroom. You can keep idol of lord Krishna in the bedroom of a married couple.

9)      Dead people’s photos should not be kept in the Pooja room.

10)  Ancestor’s photos should be kept on the wall of the drawing room in between south and southwest.

11)  Guru’s photo should be kept in the Pooja room at a lower level than the idols of Gods.

12)  Pooja room should not be multilevel.

13)  Don’t sit on plastic chair while performing the Pooja. You can use wooden chair for sitting while performing the Pooja.

14)  Don’t wear shoes and sox while performing the Pooja.

15)  Don’t use red bulb in Pooja Sthan.

16)  Use light green, white, light blue or yellow in Pooja sthan.

17)  Don’t place Pooja sthan below the staircase.

18)  If you make a mandir inside the house it should have a dome or gumbad on it to avoid negative energy coming from above. If you construct the mandir outside of the house it should have a gumbad or a pyramid on the top.
