KITCHEN AND LAUNDRY AT THE MAIN ENTRANCE OF AN APARTMENT

According to Vastu Shastra, having a kitchen directly at the entrance of an apartment is generally not considered ideal. The entrance is a primary energy gateway (prana), and placing a kitchen there can cause a "Vedha" (obstruction) to positive energy flow, potentially leading to financial losses or family discord. 

Similarly, the laundry area or washing machine should not be located at the entrance, as it is considered a "discharging activity" that disrupts the flow of energy.

Kitchen at the Entrance

  • Ideal Direction: The best location for a kitchen is the South-East (Agni corner). The second best option is North-West.
  • Why Avoid Entrance: A kitchen at the main door can obstruct the entry of positive energy.
  • If Unavoidable: Ensure the kitchen is not directly visible from the front door, and keep the kitchen entrance in the North, East, or West.
  • Install one Chinese Convex bagua on the main entrance door facing outside to repel the negative energy coming inside the house.
  • Vastu Defects: Kitchens in the Northeast or Southwest are strictly prohibited as they cause severe health and financial troubles. 

Laundry at the Entrance 

  • Ideal Location: The most ideal place for a laundry/wash area is West or North-West.
  • Avoid: Laundry/washing machines should not be in the North-East or South-West, as this leads to health problems, financial loss, and mental anxiety.
  • Why Avoid Entrance: Similar to the kitchen, a wash area right at the main door or main entry path creates a major Vastu flaw called "Vedha", and will stop positive energy coming inside the house.
