VASTU FOR KITCHEN

Kitchen is the most affected area of the house from where all kind of energies prevails while an expert vastu consultant would surely identify about the adverse situation of house if kitchen were placed incorrectly.

This important part of the house must be placed on its corresponding place i.e., Southeast governed by element Fire. Kitchen being important part of home, is the primary contributing factor in general health and wellbeing of occupants.

Some essential things to be considered in Vastu for Kitchen are as below.

1)    Element Fire governs the direction Southeast, so this position of the house is ideal for kitchen. However, if choosing alternative then North-west part could be taken for construction of kitchen but avoid making kitchen in any other direction.

2)    Cooking gas or stove should be placed in Southeast direction in such a way that while cooking you should face East.

3)    Kitchen in Northeast quadrant tends to affect health of female members.

4)    Place sink in Northeast direction away from cooking gas.

5)    Larger windows in the kitchen should be on the Eastern side while small ventilators should be placed in South.

6)    Provision for water storage and taps should be made in the Northeast of the kitchen.

7)    Avoid placing dining table in the centre of the kitchen instead locate it in the West or North-west direction.

8)    The sink should be in the Northeast of the kitchen.

9)    Electric equipment like microwave, oven or refrigerator should be placed in the Southeast or Northwest.

10) The slope of the water flow should be from Southwest to Northeast.

11) The cylinder should be placed in the Southeast corner.

12) The geyser should be installed on the Southeast side.

13) The storage of all food grains, utensils the overhead almirah should always be on the southern and western walls and not on the Northern and Eastern walls.

14) The fridge should be placed in the in the southeast or Northwest corner of the kitchen.

15) The dishwasher can be placed on the Northwest of the kitchen.

16) The exhaust fan should be installed either in the Northwest corner or the East wall.

17) There should not be toilets or bathrooms adjoining, below or above the kitchen.

THINGS TO AVOID

1)    Kitchen must never be below or above the toilet or bathroom.

2)    The toilet and kitchen must never share a common wall. Both the defects can have adverse effect on the resident’s health.

3)    Kitchen must never face the entrance of the house.

4)    The kitchen must never be in the North, Northeast as this can badly affect a person’s career.

5)    As per vastu for kitchen mid-north, Northeast, Midwest, midsouth, southwest and centre of the house should never be used for constructing a kitchen.

6)    The Pooja room or temple must never be above the stove or kitchen sink as it brings bad luck.

7)    Stove in the kitchen must not be visible from outside.
