Mirror placement in North and East walls

Shapes are Important.

Square and rectangular shapes are preferred in vastu shastra as they spread energies evenly. Oval and circles are not considered the best and should be avoided. Although there is no restriction on the size of the mirror to be used, any irregular shape should be avoided.

Mirrors do not just have a decorative or functional value; they are also excellent tools to create the illusion of a larger space. However, as per vastu, there is another functionality to mirrors—if placed correctly; they can change the energy of a home. Mirrors have the power to attract positivity and reflect or reject negative energies. They can revert vastu flaws, just with their correct placement. Here are some rules to placing mirrors in your homes, as per Vastu Shashtra.

Directional Placement of Mirrors

Mirrors should always be placed on the eastern and northern walls of the house and never on southern or western walls.

Mirrors in the Bedroom

Master bedroom should be in the south or southwest direction, which is dominated by earth element. Whereas mirror is water element and is associated with instability. As per vastu, it is not advisable to place a mirror in this room as it will interfere with the energies of earth element and create chaos.

 

 

 

 

What You MUST FOLLOW:

1.    Square or rectangular shape mirrors are best.

2.    Place mirrors, wall clocks, glass showpieces and decorative items (that may reflect light) on North or East walls only.

3.    Ensure that all the mirrors are at least 4 to 5 feet above the floor.

4.    If you have a fish aquarium at home, then make sure that you keep it in the North or East direction. A fish aquarium is another beautiful and powerful tool in vastu shastra. If used as per rules and guidelines of vastu, it attracts wealth and happiness; otherwise, it becomes a major source of negative energy.

5.    Keep the television in Southeast portion of room. Make sure to cover the TV screen whenever the TV is off.

6.    Keep a dressing table with a big mirror by the side of bed, as it has considered auspicious.

7.    If your home has a cut in any corner (a significant vastu defect), then placing mirrors in that direction eliminates that defect. Place two mirrors in apposite arrangement, touching the floor.

8.    If there is a beautiful landscape outside your window, then place a mirror opposite to that window such that the landscape is reflected in the mirror. This ensures that the positive energy and the beauty of the landscape are replicated inside your home, which brings in more positive energy and bliss.

9.    Placing a mirror reflecting a dining table symbolizes doubling of food and attracts wealth.

10. Placing a mirror in front of cash locker attracts more and more wealth. Aha, and talking of attracting wealth.

11. A common vastu defect is having a wall at the center of a home, to eliminate this defect you can place a mirror to correct that defect.

12. If you have, mirrors in bathroom then make sure they are never in dark.

13. If you have something in your home, which has negative energy in it, then place a mirror in front of that thing. The mirror will suck all the negative energy from that “thing”.

What You MUST AVOID:

1.    Avoid oval and round shaped mirrors.

2.    Never place a mirror, glass object or any shining thing in front of the main gate – keeping anything that reflects light, at the main entrance, sends all the positive energy away from home. You must make sure that the main entrance of your home complies with the rules and regulations of vastu Shastra; if a mirror is in the bedroom with/without dressing table then make sure than none of the body part is visible in the mirror while sleeping on the bed, else the same body part will develop serious medical problems.

3.    If the windowpanes and doors of a home are made of glass, then make sure they are not transparent.

4.    Avoid hanging a mirror near the study table in children’s bedroom as it makes them to lose concentration in studies.

5.    Avoid hanging mirror in West wall especially in children’s bedroom else, they will be busy in impressing people of opposite gender.

6.    Avoid hanging mirror in narrow passages as they attract negative energy.

7.    Never place mirrors opposite to one another as it causes impatience and increases restless energy.

Avoid mirror near a staircase. Staircases have very high importance in vastu shastra and you must make sure that stairs in your home is a vastu compliant or not.

Mirror placement in North and East walls

Since mirrors represent water, element you can hang them on the North or East walls of the house. This is because North and East direction fully support the water element. Avoid square shaped mirrors on North walls and round shaped mirrors on East walls. A rectangular mirror is suitable in both the directions.

Mirror Placement on the Northeast walls.

The Northeast direction has also a dominance of water element. Therefore, mirrors can easily be placed on the Northeast walls also. In fact, mirrors are mirrors are extensively used in vastu to rectify cuts and defects in the North East of the house.

 

 

Mirror Placement on the West walls

In situations where there is a cut in the West zone of the house, mirror placement can also be done on the west walls as per vastu. This will enhance the overall Zonal strength of the west walls or direction. A round or rectangular shaped mirror is good in the west walls.

 

Mirror Placement in Southeast walls.

The placement of mirrors on the Southeast walls or direction is strictly a no. The Southeast zone is governed by the fire element, which is anti to the water element. Thus, placing mirrors in the Southeast is like putting water in to fire. Both the water and fire will be thrown out of balance leading to serious problems in the house. Mirrors in Southeast can cause sudden accidents, financial losses, and serious digestive health problems.

Mirror Placement on South walls

South also represents the fire element and placing a mirror here can completely ruin the energies of this zone. A mirror on South walls can attract court cases, legal problems and even jeopardize the social reputation of the residents. If there is no option, the best remedy for mirror on South wall is either to cover it with a brown/green cloth or keep it enclosed inside wardrobe or a closet.

Mirror Placement on Southwest walls

The dominance of Earth element in Southwest prohibits the placement of mirrors here. A mirror placed in South-West can cause disharmony in the family members and can lead to frequent quarrels. Since this direction also controls the safekeeping of money, mirrors here can double your expenses, mostly wasteful expenses.

7)    Kitchen: North. This direction traditionally is suitable for Puja room. However, in the Southern hemisphere the sun travels from East-North-West and hence Kitchen in this direction is appropriate. The kitchen platform should be in such a way that the cook to face East direction. In our case, the cook is facing south.
