Shailya is a defect, flaw, or imperfection and is located below the surface (subterranean). This can include any buried objects, items, minerals, water (for example) bones, coal, skeleton, ash, hair among others. They create a negative energy field and the radiation emitted thus, spreads through the entire house or property.

The cosmic energy is equated to the standard Vastu Purush figure in Vastu texts. The presence of negative energy at certain sensitive/delicate parts called Marma points is most dangerous as these are vital points.
