HOW TO READ A KUNDALI

The real deal – How to read kundli?

Step 1 – Find your ascendant sign

The simplest yet most important step when trying to read your kundli is finding the ascendant sign. Ascendant sign in astrology is also called Lagna. Kundlis are usally prepared by taking your ascendant sign as the Kendra. At the time of your birth, whatever zodiac sign is placed in the 1st house of your Kundli, becomes your ascendant sign.

The first house in Kundli, also called the house of self, represents one’s body, fame, strength, character, courage, knowledge and such similar traits. In a nutshell, your Lagna sign is what defines your existence hence is the most important thing to consider when preparing a Kundl

Very important thing to remember – the planets in one’s kundali are denoted by numerals (1-12) and houses by roman numbers (I-XII).

  1. Aries sign is denoted by the number 1.
  2. Taurus is denoted by the number 2.
  3. Gemini is denoted by the number 3.
  4. Cancer is denoted by the number 4.
  5. Leo is denoted by the number 5.
  6. Virgo is denoted by the number 6.
  7. Libra is denoted by the number 7.
  8. Scorpio is denoted by the number 8
  9. Sagittarius is denoted by the number 9.
  10. Capricorn is denoted by the number 10.
  11. Aquarius is denoted by the number 11.
  12. Pisces is denoted by the number 12.

Importance of Ascendant sign – In astrology, every zodiac sign has an enemy planet/planets and a friendly planet/planet. For example, when it comes to Aries, one of its enemy planets is Saturn. So, by any chance, at the time of our birth, if Saturn is sitting with the Aries in the 1st house (house of self), you may have to go through a difficult life. Why? Because like we said, your Lagna house represents the whole of you, and placement of an enemy planet in it could be harmful. “Could be” because the results are not always negative.

Step 2 – Understanding houses in kundli

The next step on the How to read Kundli tutorial would be understanding houses (भाव) also called bhavas and their significance.

There are as many as 12 houses in Kundli. Each house represents something or the other. For example, the first house in Kundli is the house of self, the second house is about your finances. These 12 houses are further divided into four ‘bhavas,’ which are Dharma (duty), Artha (resources), Kama (pleasure) and Moksha (liberation).

  1. Dharma – 1st, 5th and 9th Bhavas/Houses
  2. Artha – 2nd, 6th and 10th Bhavas/Houses
  3. Kama – 3rd, 7th and 11th Bhavas/Houses
  4. Moksha – 4th, 8th and 12th Bhavas/Houses

1st House in kundli or Tanu Bhava – The first house is also called Tanu Bhava or the house of “Self“ or Lagna house. This house represents traits like body, honour, place of birth, strength, character, stamina, characteristics, etc. General body traits such as complexion, marks or moles, sleep, the texture of hair, stamina are also represented by this sign.

2nd House in kundli or Dhan Bhava – The second house is the house of family, finance and wealth. If occupied by a positive planet, it can really influence

these aspects. This house also defines the kind of relationship you will have with your family members, spouse, etc.

3rd house in kundli or Sahai Bhava – The third house is the house of younger siblings, hobbies and communication. Apart from this the third house in

astrology also signifies courage, intelligence, education up to Higher Secondary level, etc.

4th House in kundli or Bandhu Bhava – The 4th house represents mother, domestic surroundings, happiness and property. This house can influence the

comforts and discomforts one may face in his or her life.

5th House in kundli or Putra Bhava – The fifth house in astrology is about creativity, wittiness, love, affair and all such mushy traits. The house also

represents sexual assaults and acquisitions through wife, fascination for women and karmas of past lives.

6th House in kundli or Ari Bhava – The sixth house in Kundli is about debt, profession and diseases. If you are making progress in your career, one of the

reasons could be the positiveness of this house. Also, this house can foretell how more or less a disease can affect you.

7th House in kundli or Yuvati Bhava – The seventh house in astrology deals with traits like wife, husband, partnership, external sex organ, lust, adultery,

partnership, theft, etc. Partnerships in business are also denoted by this house.

8th House in kundli or Randhr Bhava – In astrology, the 8th house represents death, unexpected incidents, longevity, defeat, disgrace, finances through

unfair means, mental disorders, etc. The positives and negatives of this house have a significant impact on a person.

9th House in astrology or Dharma Bhava – The ninth house in astrology is about father, foreign travel, publicity, luck, religion, etc. Apart from this, the

house also represents nourishment in humans.

10th House in astrology or Karma Bhava – The 10th house in astrology is about career, karma, job and profession. This is the house based on which an

individual’s profession Kundli predictions are made.

11th House in astrology or Labh Bhava – Gains from elder siblings, your goals, ambitions, income, etc. such traits can be predicted by reading the 11th

house in astrology. It also denotes gains of all nature, lost wealth and profits and returns.

12th House in astrology or Vyaya Bhava – Lastly, the 12th house in astrology signifies private enemies, pleasures of beds, lawsuits, imprisonments, secret

works, moksha, hospitalization, conjugal relations with opposite sex other than legitimate. Sorrows, debts, lost goods etc.

Any planet or zodiac sign positioned in a house influences its factors and gives results based on that account.

Step 3 – Identify the planet in each house

At the time of your birth, all among the nine planets in astrology are occupying one or the other house. In fact, at times, one house can be occupied by more

than one planet too. Each of these planets has its own characteristics and behave differently when in combination with different zodiac signs and planets. For

example, planet Saturn is an enemy to planet Venus and Aries sign. So, if these all are in the same house, the results could be bad.

But how does one get to know what planet is whose friend or enemy? Well, it’s simple. All you need to do is understand the terms Exaltation & Debilitation.

Exaltation, in simple terms, is when a planet posited in a particular sign elevates, i.e. compliments or both the signs’ natural harmony sync to churn out a favourable outcome.

Meanwhile, the debilitation is the opposite of exaltation and thus the outcome here is likely to be unfavourable.

Read your kundli

Once you know that, you need to have a knowledge of what that particular house represents (finance, love, etc). And based on the same you will have your results.
