Marmasthan Vastu: Exploring the Energetic Vital
Points of the Vastu Purusha
Vastu Shastra, an ancient Indian science of
architecture, encompasses a myriad of principles that govern the design and
layout of spaces to enhance positive energy flow. One intriguing aspect of
Vastu that holds profound significance is “Marmasthan.” In this exploration, we
will delve into the depths of Marmasthan, unravelling its mysteries and
understanding its role in Vastu principles.
Marmasthan, derived from the Sanskrit words “Marma”
(meaning vital point) and “Sthan” (meaning place), refers to the energetic
vital points in a living or working space. These points are believed to have a
direct impact on the well-being and harmony of the inhabitants.
These energetic points are strategically located in
different parts of a building, aligning with the principles of Vastu Purusha
Mandala. Marmasthan is not merely a physical point but is also deeply connected
to the spiritual and metaphysical aspects of Vastu. Each Marmasthan is
associated with specific deities, elements, and energies, making it a focal
point for invoking positive vibrations. The energies flowing through Marmasthan
points are thought to impact the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of
the occupants.
As per Vastu Soukhyam and Samarangan Sutradhara,
these diagonal lines are referred to as Vanshas. At certain places, these
Vansha lines are even called as Durajay. The point within cells (padas) where
Vansha and Shira intersect are known as Pravesh (entry), Trishul (trident),
Konak (angle). At these points, do not construct pillars, beams, or columns.
The points where the Vanshas intersect each other are dangerous. The point
of intersection of Vansha lines is called Marma. The points, if corrupted,
create a flaw. The lines stretch between specific cells, connecting Shikhi to
Pitra, Aditi to Sugriv on Marma points. Shikhi to Pitr – NE to SW -this is
called “Karnasutra line” and a column on this line can result in death of the
owner, Sugriv to Aditi, Jayant to Bhringraj, Roga to Agni, Mukhya to Bhrish,
and Shosha to Vitath. The meeting point of these lines forms the Mahamarma.
The Vastu Purusha Mandala is intricately defined by
intersecting lines identified as Nadi, Rajju, and Sutra. These lines represent
the Energy Meridians of a plot, and their intersections are denoted as Marma
points. These Marma points are further classified into Upamarma, Mahamarma, and
Shanmahaanti. The Mahamarma and Shanmahaanti points are particularly delicate
and require careful consideration.
In an 81-cell Padavinyas or cell division, there
are 13 Devtas positioned internally, while 32 Devtas occupy the outer
periphery. Notably, at vital points on the Vastu Purusha, one encounters Marma,
Shiras, and Vansha, mirroring essential human body parts such as the head,
mouth, heart, navel, anus, and nipples. The Vastu Purusha comprises six pivotal
parts collectively known as “Shanmahaanti.” These elements contribute to the
intricate understanding of energy flow and balance within the Vastu Purusha Mandala.
Nadi (Veins)
The lines traversing from east to west are
designated as Shanta, Yashowati , Kanta, Vishala, Pranvahini, Sati, Sumana,
Nanda, Subhadra, and Susthita. Meanwhile, the lines extending from north to
south bear the names Hiranya, Suvarta, Lakshmi, Vibhuti, Vimla, Priya, Jaya,
Kala, Vishoka, and Indra.
Just as the human body comprises veins that carry
life energy, the body of Vastu Purusha also features energy channels known as
Shiras. Any hindrance or obstruction in these energy channels can lead to Vastu
Defects, specifically referred to as Marma Dosha.
Marma Size
In the context of a square plot, delineating 9
horizontal lines and 9 vertical lines results in 81 equal-sized cells known as
Padas. The Marma dimensions are one-eighth of the length and breadth of each
cell. For rectangular plots, the larger value is considered. For example, in an
18′ x 9′ plot, where each cell measures 2’x1′, the Marma size is 16″/8=2
inches. In a 9’x9′ plot, where each cell is 1’x1′, the Marma size becomes
12″/8=1.5 inches.
Marma Effects
Samarangan Sutradhar Chapter 13 v. 12 states
that if the Marma points are aggressed in any way, then misery or misfortune
can befall upon the inhabitants of that space and that there could be a
possible loss of lineage.
AparajitPruccha Vol 1 Ch. 52 v. 11-14 tells us
that any form of Marma Vedh is disastrous. If Head Marma is aggressed, then
there could be danger to the life of the parents and Son of the house owner. If
the Central or Back Marma is aggressed then the home-owner faces loss of
wealth, siblings, misery and in worst case scenario, may even have to relocate.
The lines drawn horizontally, vertically, and
diagonally within the mandala are akin to the veins of Vastu Purusha, acting as
conduits for the flow of cosmic energies and bringing the plot to life.
As Vastu Purusha is symbolically considered a
living being, any interference with the Marma points on the Vastu Purusha
Mandala through a Marma Vastu Vedh or Marma Puncture according to Vastu
shastra, can result in severe Vastu defects for the structure. Thus, a
conscientious approach to these points is essential to ensure the harmony and
positive energy flow within the constructed space.
Marma Vedh or Marma Dosha goes beyond immediate
effects, affecting vital energy points and Devta energies. Devtas, associated
with positive influences, see a disrupted balance due to these conditions,
diminishing their positive impact on Vastu energies. This reduction compromises
the overall positive Vastu influence, extending negative effects to human
energy fields in the affected space.
Remedy for Marma – Marma Point
Correction
At Vastu Energetics, a holistic approach that
combines the principles of Vastu Shastra with bio-resonance remedies for Vastu
defects such as Marma Vedh or Marma Dosha, is employed to restore balance and
harmony in living or working spaces.
We may recommend adjustments in the spatial layout,
placement of objects, or energetic enhancements to address the underlying
issues associated with Marma Dosha. By harmonizing the energetic flow in the
affected space, Vastu Energetics aims to alleviate imbalances related to Marma
Defect with modern time-honoured Vastu remedies thereby promoting a positive
and supportive environment for the well-being of individuals inhabiting the
space.
