In literal terms, vastu means 'to dwell' or 'to exist' and
shastra means science. There are two words associated with this science - vastu
and vaastu. Vastu means pure, subtle energy and vaastu means embodied material
energy.
When vastu or subtle energy goes into vibration of its own,
many objects of nature such as buildings, temples, idols, etc. come into being.
These material forms are called vaastu. Today, vaastu is commonly used to
denote buildings.
The science of vastu is based on the concept of space
(subtle energy) as a dynamic element out of which all objects of nature come
into existence, and into which all disappear ultimately. The frequency of
vibration of this subtle energy, which is based on a particular rhythm or time
measure, causes the birth and development of all objects of nature. So, time is
the causal element of all material forms.
The main aim of vastu science is to create building spaces
to live in harmony with subtle nature.
The inner space of an individual and the outer space in the
cosmos are vibrating at a particular frequency or rhythm.
If a part of the vast space is isolated and enclosed by a
four-walled structure, called a building, it becomes a living organism, and the
enclosed space starts vibrating at a particular frequency. The architect
trained in the science and technology of vastu and vaastu designs the building
in such a way that its vibrations are numerically equal to the vibrations of
the occupants of the building which is determined by their birth stars.
This is made possible by a special calculation maintained
in vaastu technology. The building encloses a part of the cosmic space which is
filled with particles of energy each in the form of 'Vastu Purusha Mandala'
where'Vastu Purusha' means material energy and 'Mandala' means diagram. This
energy grid pattern consists of 9 x 9 = 81 squares and is the basic layout for
all building spaces.
Vaastu viyda has gone abroad and as you know, its Chinese
counterpart, Feng-Shui, is very popular in the West. On my recent visit to Sri
Lanka, I noticed that their houses and monasteries were designed on the basis
of the Vaastu Purusha Mandala. The city of Guatemala has also applied the
concept of the Vaastu Purusha Mandala as the basic plan for their city layout,
design of buildings and pyramids.
When I visited Mexico, I noticed that the Mayan pyramids
resembled the gopurams (pyramids) of South Indian temples.
The design and layout of the temple, idols and selection of
site of Indian temples is based on Vastu.
Temples are always constructed on a square or rectangular
plot of land; this helps to confer spiritual peace to the temple goers. This
rule is also applicable to houses and other buildings. The central core,
Brahmasthan (belonging to Brahma, the Creator) is left open. The subtle God is
always in the middle of the Brahmasthan. When God is manifested in idol form,
it must be placed a little away from the centre in a direction moving away from
the main entrance. Ferocious deities such as Kali are located at the periphery
of the temple as they are considered too gross. The only God that occupies the centre
of the temple is Shiva Linga, not even Lord Shiva.
Mathematically speaking, the temple and the idol in the
temple are of the same mould. A temple is built in the shape of a human God by
slightly modifying the structure using certain vibrational measures. Hence it
is said that the temple is not merely the home of God but the form of God as
well.
Objectives
Our Objectives
Vastu Shastra is the
scientific study of directions that creates equilibrium by balancing the
different elements of nature and using them for the benefit of humans.
There is a great importance of Vastu shastra in our life,
as it paves way for happiness and prosperity to knock our doors. Vastu is very
rational in the sense that it is based on scientific study and not on
assumptions. Also, there is surety about its permanency, as it takes into
consideration the directions, which are static. Read further to know why Vastu
should be followed…
Talking about Vastu, the best part is that its guidelines
are very simple and easy to follow. It can be applied to virtually all sets of
constructions, then be it a house, a particular room, temple, commercial
complex, industry etc.
Vastu extracts the positive energies of the five natural
forces of nature, like solar energy of sun, lunar energy of
moon,
wind energy, magnetic effects of earth etc and balances them to bring harmony
in the life of mankind. Consult a good vastu expert and follow the advice
sincerely and then open your arms to receive good luck, health and wealth.
About
Vastushastra
In ancient days, Lord Shankara
had fought a war against devil, Andhakasura and had killed him. During this war
the BHOOTA created out of the sweat of Lord Shankara, drunk and ate the flesh
and blood of Andhakasura.
The
BHOOTA was not able to tolerate his hunger and so he started eating the plants
and animals on the earth. Then he targed towards God. All God's frightened,
worshiped Lord Bhrama.
Lord
Bhrama told them to turn the Bhoota upside and sit on him at different. Thus,
81 God's sat on their places and due to this Bhoota could not move and
struggled due to hunger. Then BHOOTA prayed to Lord Bhrama about his hunger.
Then Lord Bhrama gave him a boon and told him that from that day onwards, all
mankind will worship you as a God of Vastu and the people will donate you some
food.
In
such Vastu, you will be responsible for the wellbeing, happiness and prosperity
of your worshipers. And in the Vastu where you will not be
worshiped,
you shall take away all the wealth, health and happiness from it.
How Vastu Shastra works?
Vastu Shastra works on three principles of design that
cover the entire premise. The first one is Bhogadya, which says that the
designed premise must be useful and lend itself to easy application. The second
is Sukha Darsha, in which the designed premise must be aesthetically pleasing.
The proportions of the spaces and the material used, in the interiors and
exteriors of the building - ornamentation, colour, sizes of the windows, doors
and the rooms and the rhythms of projection and depressions - should be beautiful.
The third principle is Ramya, where the designed premise should evoke a feeling
of wellbeing in the user.
Also, Vastu Shastra is a complicated form of science put
together by seventeen sages. There are certain rules that should be followed
while building a house or a building. For instance, the building's underground
water tank or well should be situated in the northeast direction. But, if the
building has an overhead tank then it should be placed in the southwest
direction. Also, more space should be left to the north and the east of the
building compound and less on the south and the west. Open space should be kept
around the building and if the plot has a road on the east-north directions, it
is better for the inhabitants.
Vaastu Shastra (Vaastu- physical environment and Shastra-
knowledge) is one of the traditional Hindu canons of town planning and
architecture. These canons are codified in texts such as Manasara Silpa Shastra
(by Manasara), Mayamatam (by Maya), Viswakarma Vaastushastra (by Viswakarma),
Samarangana Sutradara (by Raja Bhoja), Aparajita Praccha (by Viswakarma's son
Aparajita) and Silparatna. Other treatises such as Agni Purana and works by
Kautilya and Sukracharya are not popular even though they preceded the previously
mentioned documents. Distinction of style exists due to each documents place of
origin. Mayamata and Mansara Silpa Shastra are considered Dravidian because
they are from south India whereas Viswaskarama Vaastu Shastra is considered
Aryan due to its north Indian origin. Vaastu Shastra deals with various aspects
of designing and building living environments that are in harmony with the
physical and metaphysical forces/energies of the cosmos such as the
gravitational, electromagnetic and supernatural. Building practices based on
limited interpretations of these principles are still sustained in specific
areas of India.
The Science
Vaastu believes that there are essentially two types of
forces, which are equal and opposite in nature. The interaction of these two
forces is cosmic ordained and produces a third type of force, which is called
‘bioforce’ or ‘PRANA’, needed for life to exist. One type of force is subtle
and fine. The other is dark and dense. We can, for sake of understanding this
subject, call the first one as 'positive' and the other as 'negative'. 'prana'
is liberated by the interaction of these forces. Over the surface of the globe
these forces continuously interact releasing bioenergy. When a structure is
built over the surface of the earth it comes in the way of a natural
interaction. Both the forces enter the structure where the interaction
continues. However, the intensity of forces that enter the structure need not
be the same. Depending on various factors like levels, water bodies, door
placement etc., either the positive or the negative can have stronger presence.
If the structure is so designed that the positive forces
override the negative forces then there is a beneficial release of bioenergy,
which helps all the inmates to be healthy. Even after such reaction with the
negative forces a positive cosmic surplus is always present in such a
structure, which is the Supreme Being Himself. In such an atmosphere life is
smooth and happy with everything in life coming your way without any great
struggle. It is a happy and healthy life for all the inhabitants.
If on the other hand the structure is built in such a
manner that the negative forces override the positive, then you have a weak
bio-energy field which manifests as diseases in the occupants. The overbearing
negative field makes your actions, efforts, thinking negative so that
ultimately the whole life is ruined.
The
science of Vaastu guides you about the rules you have to follow so that the
structure has a positive atmosphere.
Principles of Vastu Shastra
Everything that exists in the universe, including our
bodies, is made of five elements. These five elements are earth (geomagnetic
energy), water (gravitational energy), fire (solar energy), air (wind energy)
and space (cosmic radiation). These forces have a powerful influence on us, as
well as the environment. Vastu is the science of arranging our man-made
environments so that we are in alignment with these forces of nature. If we are
not aligned with solar and geomagnetic forces, we may experience illness,
misfortune and struggle. It is as if we are attempting to swim against the
current of a river.
The east is the source of solar, ultra-violet rays, and the
north is the source of magnetic energy. We benefit by keeping our environment
open to these life supporting energies. The harmful infrared rays, which come
from the south, and the destructive gamma rays, coming from the west, cause
disruption within the environment and our bodies. Using the principles of Vastu
Shastra, we protect ourselves from these rays.
Each of these elements is associated with a particular
direction: water in the northeast, fire in the southeast, earth in the
southwest, air in the northwest and space in the centre. By balancing these
elements in their proper proportions, we will gain the benefits of health,
happiness and prosperity.
The
basic principles of balancing the five elements apply throughout the world. By
using the principles of this science, buildings can be designed to harmonize
with the different climatic conditions of each region.
Famous Vastu
Vastu is one of the most ancient sciences of Indian
architecture and is composed of specific rules, regulations and directions, set
down by sages of the Vedic times. For the modern society it is the highly
evolved, comprehensive building philosophy.
According to Vastu, a building or a premises is a living
organism and can be designed in harmonic resonance with the underlying energy
structure of the universe. Such a building or premises becomes a generator of
coherence, attuning the occupants to the universal laws and increasing health,
wealth and spiritual wellbeing.
Famous Tirupati Temple
World famous Tirupati temple
is found adhering to the principles of vastu shilpa shastra. Its prosperity
legendary thanks mainly to the exemplary implementation of the principles of
Vastu Shastra. The main temple is situated on the South - West side of the
temple complex. On its North - East direction is a lake and pond. The dining
hall of the temple is on South-East side while the North-West and North side of
the temple is allocated to the godown for grains and items require in the
kitchen. The entire temple complex is of square shape as a result of which its
axis and that of the Earth are perpendicular to each other. The main temple is
occupying only the one fourth area of the total area and on its Eastern and
Northern side is open area. Thus the Tirupati temple of Lord Balaji is an ideal
place according to the norms of Vastu Shastra which is why it is the most
prosperous temple on the earth.
Jaipur City Palace
Old Jaipur which is based on a
Prastar type town described in several texts. Built in 1727 AD, the final form
and structure of the town shows a skillful manipulation, according to the
Shastra's prescriptions, of the square mandala right from the whole to the
smallest of the plots, the location of activities, and distribution of the
caste groups.
Based
on the studies carried out by scholars it is suggested that these texts were
written down largely between the 7th century AD to 13th century AD following
the Gupta period. They are found in all the major languages of medieval India.
Of course, the earliest references are also found in the Vedas, which deal with
carpentry among other subjects.
Vastusastras
can be said to be companion texts to Shilpasastras and
Chitrasastras dealing with
sculpture, icons and painting respectively. Strangely, among all these texts,
those devoted exclusively to one of the areas. i.e. vastu, chitra or shilpa are
rare. This is because in the Indian artistic traditions, each was an important
and integral part of the creative endeavor largely because all of these,
including performing arts such as the dance and music, were based at the
temple.
Srirangam Temple
The
temple of Srirangam is situated at 10 degrees 52’N and 78 degrees 42’ E towards
the southern tip of India
Srirangam
is the foremost of the eight self-manifested shrines (Swayam Vyakta Kshetras)
of
Lord
Vishnu. It is also considered the first, foremost and the most important of the
108 mains
Vishnu
temples (Divyadesams). This temple is also known as Thiruvaranga Tirupati,
Periyakoil,
Bhoologa Vaikundam, Bhogamandabam. In the Vaishnava parlance the term
"KOIL" signifies this temple only. The temple is
enormous in size. The temple complex is 6,31,000 Sqm. (156
Acres) in extent. It has seven prakaras or enclosures. The
temple of Srirangam is the only one in India with seven enclosures a sacred
symbolic number which for present day Vaishnava believers represents either the
seven centers of Yoga, or a reference to the seven elements making up the human
body, in the center of which dwells the soul. These enclosures are formed by
thick and huge rampart walls which run round the sanctum. There are 21
magnificent towers in all prakaras providing a unique sight to any visitor.
this temple lies on an islet formed by the twin rivers Cauvery and Coleroon.
Prosperity of Japan
In spite of a small country,
Japan has progressed tremendously. It has a large water body - the Pacific
Ocean in its North-East direction. The eastern side of Japan is widely spread
and open. Thus, Japan gets full benefit of the rays of the sun. This gives
Japan a maximum benefit of Vastu & made this country rich and prosperous.
But it has sea in Southeast and south, which is a place for Fire, this The
Japan has suffered the attack of atom bombs explosion and earthquake, as it has
sea in southeast and south.
Prosperity of London
Prosperous
city London is ideally situated according to the principles of Vastu Shastra. The
Thames River is in the east direction. It has more parks & gardens in the Northwest
& East. Many famous educational institutes & universities are located
in the Northeast corner. The boundary of the England is more towards North
& East directions- a positive direction to capture beneficial morning sun rays,
according to vastu.
Prosperity
of America
Looking at the map of America, the country is more located
towards east side than west. Also, the extension is more towards north east,
which is auspicious. It has huge lakes in the northeast location. As one
progresses towards North-East in United States of America the land becomes
richer and richer, it is found.
At
the root of the progress and prosperity of the cities like New York, London,
Mumbai, Singapore, Hong Kong etc. are always the benedictory principles of
Vastu Shastra, it is found.
Prosperity of Mumbai
Mumbai,
a rich port has a water body to its North – East. All major lakes for drinking
water are situated in the Northeast direction of Mumbai. It has an atomic plant
representing Agni (Fire) in the southeast of the Mumbai. Fire is a key factor
in prosperity of any Vastu premises or
location. It has more ocean in the West, the perfect
location for Vayu (Air).
Spiritual prosperous India
In
India, Slope is more towards east, which is auspicious. All-important rivers
are flowing towards east, that is why country is more rich in spirituality.
Thousands of westerners’ flock to India for spiritual enlightenment. India has
the Himalayas in the North of the country, which is against Vastu, thus there
is lot of poverty in the country. There is water in Southwest and southeast
side of our nation, thus we have to face the attacks of foreign empires &
lot of expenditure on defense.

We
get the four main directions in The East, The West, The North and The South and
the sub directions The South-East, the South-West, the North-West and
North-East. Every direction has its own importance in Vastushastra.
1. The East
The
East side belongs to the Lord Indra. The sun rises from the East & this
direction is given the first position. The principal God of the east direction
is Lord Indra. It gives prosperity and wealth. In all there are nine Gods
(Powers in this direction). 1. Ish (Shiva) 2. Prajanya (Paromeya) 3. Jayant 4.
Indra 5. The Sub 6. Satya (Truth) 7. Bhrush 8. Akash (The Sky) 9. Agni (The
Fire)
2. The West
The
West direction belongs to the Lord Varuna who has control and power over the
rain and water.
The
principal Gods of the west direction are 1. Rog (Disease) 2. Pap (Sin) 3. Shesh
(Cobra) 4. Asur (Demon) 5. Varun 6. Pushpadevta or Kusumdanta (flower) 7.
Sugriv 8. Dwarpal (Doorkeeper) 9.
Pitar
(For Eathers). Out of these Gods Rog, Pap, Asur, Dwarpal and pitar are having
cruel powers.
3. The North
The
principal God of this side is Kuber who has incalculable stores of wealth and
prosperity. The Gods on this side are 1. Diti 2. Aditi 3. Sarpa (Serpent) 4.
Som or Chandra (Moon) 5. Bhalat 6. Mukhya (Main/principal) 7. Nag (Cobra). All
these are auspicious Gods giving happiness and prosperity.
4. The South
Lord
Yama is the principal good of this direction. There are seven Gods in this
direction 1. Usha 2. Vitatha 3. Yama 4. Krutanta 5. Gandharva 6. Bhrungraj 7.
Mriga. The South direction is banned for all auspicious functions.
5. The South-east
This
direction lies between the south and the east directions, Agni (fire) is the
principal God of this side. This direction is used for Hom-Havan (oblations by
fire to a deity in a pit) and burying Vastupurush. The kitchen should always be
in this direction.
6. The South-west
The
corner between the south and the west direction is known as the south-west
direction. Nairuti (Putna demoness) is the authority of this direction.
therefore, it is banned for all auspicious functions. This direction should be
filled with heavy unmovable goods. Pits, wells, septic tanks, water storage
tank, toilets or bathrooms should not be constructed in this direction. This is
because cruel forces are contaminated or get dissolved in the pits or water and
it can prove harmful to man.
7. The North-west
This
direction is in the corner of the north and the west directions. This is the
direction of Vayu Devta (the God of wind). Air is necessary for all living
beings, therefore, tell structure should not be built in this direction. Tall
trees should not be planted in this direction.
8. The North-east
The
corner of the north and the east directions is known as the north-east
direction. God himself rules this direction. Therefore, there should be no
construction in this direction. Toilets, sundry room etc. should be no
construction in this direction. Toilets, sundry room etc. should not be built
in this direction. However, wells, underground tanks, boring wells etc. give
auspicious results, if built in this direction.
Modern Physics and Vastushastra
Modern Physics and Vastushastra
Human
beings and their dwellings in directly evident or in mystic ways are affected
by the motion of the earth, and the microscopic as well as the macroscopic
effects of the forces of gravitation and electromagnetism. Some points to be
considered are gravitation and geomagnetism are the two forces which have
direct influence on the animate and inanimate objects on this earth.
though
there are attempts to incorporate short range force of repulsion in theory of
relativity, gravitation is known to be a long-range force of attraction, and
the magnetic effect involves forces of attraction as well as repulsion.
gravitational
interactions, as per Einstein's theory of relativity, can be interpreted in
terms of space-time geometry. space-time is womb of hidden and manifest events.
man has no control over time factor, but for harmonious relationship with the
cosmos, he can alter the space he lives in.
Vastushastra
defines and shapes spaces for designing dwellings that are in harmony with nature
and are beneficial to the mind and body of the persons occupying these houses.
'Dik-kal' (dik=direction, kal=time) is the theme of Vastu shastra. Space-time
is its reflection in modern physics. Science has been part and parcel of
Vastushastra analysis and studies.
Modern research has proved
that the ancient science Vaastu has a firm scientific basis. As modern science
developed it began to probe to the deeper levels of Natural Law. At each level,
scientists found progressively greater intelligence and power.
In
the last decade, modern physics explored the deepest level of all the Unified
Field of Natural Law. The intelligence at this level of Natural Law is the
source of all the forms, and phenomena in nature. The architecture of
everything in nature is
finally
designed from here.
The
Natural Law has for the first time provided a building technology that will
transform the way people think and feel – homes and offices by their mere
design create good health, clear thinking, happiness, harmony, and prosperity
for the family or business. According to vaastu a southern entrance is
inauspicious and interferes with the support of Natural Law and brings negative
influences to the inhabitants of the building.
Accordingly,
there is an ideal place for the living room, the kitchen, the dining rooms, and
the bedrooms. It is important to place each room in the house in the proper
location according to its function, so that one does not become sleepy in the
dining room or hungry in the study. This is one of the many factors that are
considered to ensure that every aspect of daily activity is in harmony with
Natural Law.
Just
as every part of the human body is properly placed and precisely proportioned;
there is an ideal proportion for every room in the home and office for Natural
Law to provide maximum support.
Latest
research in neuroscience has shed light on the fact that our Cosmic
Counterparts – the sun, moon, and the planets – have a one-to-one relationship
to the different parts of the brain: basil ganglia, thalamus and hypothalamus.
This natural tendency to align with the cosmos has led to the concept of
orienting buildings towards the east to gain the full support of the rising
sun.

Vastu Planning
House
is supposed to be the heaven for women. Every woman wishes that all persons
residing in her house should become happy and prosperous. Lord Vishwakarma has
developed and given us the Vastu Shastra for the upliftment of the society.
Following are some of the golden Tips of Vastu Shastra:
1.
Shape
of the plot should be either rectangular or square.
2.
Ratio
of length to width should be less than 2.

Relevance of Vaastu Vaastu is being increasingly used as a
tool to analyze the role of a building in the health and fortunes of its
inhabitants. The scientific basis of vaastu, in terms of energy is understood
now than ever before.
Some traditional techniques for creating wellbeing in the
build space are:
I.
The
central courtyard:
The
central court coincides with the resting Vaastu purusha’s central body composed
of lung, heart and stomach. Physically this part (of the building) offers the
heart nexus or feeling center, the lung or praana center, the stomach or
digestive center, and the nabhi or creative center
II.
The
central Energy Axis:
The
central axis known as the brahma sutra runs through every building.
Psychologically, this axis which is known as ‘vamsa modam’ or backbone, is
considered to be the core of the building and hence of importance in the health
of the occupants.
III.
The
top Ventilator or Hot Air Vent:
The
chimney, the top ventilator, are physical representation of the vertical
movement of the standing purusha, which is also the axis of the ‘praana’(life
force). These slits helped in the natural movement of air within the rooms of a
house.
IV.
Rear
garden:
In
the rear is usually located a small garden with space available for animals.
The private garden is the buildings connection with nature. In modern flats,
this would be replaced by a sit out or terrace with potted plants. The
relationship between the garden and nature is a great energy resource for its
occupants.
V.
Rainwater
catchments:
The
garden is sloped, and its base built a brick lined depression for rainwater to
collect in. it is especially beneficial for hot, dry areas.
VI.
Combining
waste- water channels with a vegetable garden:
To
prevent different water from harming potable water in wells simple channels are
made so that they can be used for vegetable patches.
VII.
Mud
walls, Lime wash, Earth Red, low-dung, Thatch:
Festivals,
holy days and seasons have been systematically demarcated for the application
of lime, cow- dung and earth, red on the walls or floor as part of a ritual.
Besides marking a special occasion, they also help in containing white ants and
rodents. Spring-cleaning is not just cleaning, but also an occasion to get rid
of the negative energy.
VIII. Medicinal plants and herbs:
Every
traditional house recommended the planting of herbs and medicinal plants
(trees) as also flowers for ‘puja’. These plants with their healing power and
fragrance add positive energies to the environment.
IX.
Periodic
fumigation of house:
Different
kinds of incenses, herbs, minerals and plants are used for cleansing the air in
a house. Periodic use of different herbs, neem leaves,” sambrani” incense and
firewood smoke help in getting rid of mosquitoes, bacteria, micro-organisms as
well as removing negative energy accumulation.
X.
Importance
of doors:
The
entrance of a house is one of the most powerful points. It connects the
activity-based identity of the individual with his inner self, denoted by the
private spaces within. Traditionally, the door would be scaled and designed for
each family and would hence be unique.
XI. Verandahs as buffers and
connectors:
In
the lifestyle of the families, the outer verandah not only played the part of
the dust and heat collector but also helped in the social interaction of the
family. Vaastu, which combines the rigor and discipline of design with the
traditional perspective toward individual comfort and community linkage, is
certainly relevant in a world where isolation has become commonplace.
Bedroom: - While construction
a bed - room, directions should be specially chosen. The directions according
to which rooms should be constructed are as under:
North
- West The room in this direction is suitable
for guests and girls.
South
- West the Chief of the house should have his
room in this direction. North
- East No bedroom should be situated in this
direction.
In
such situation there is a possibility of increased number of girls in the
family
South-East No bedroom should be located in
this direction. The children do not take interest in studies.
There
is no sound sleep. People have much anger. Decisions are generally taken
hurriedly. West. There is a possibility of birth of larger number of girls in
the family.
Bathroom: - It should be in the West
and South directions and the flow of its drains should be towards
North-East.
Commode should be South or West facing. Exhausts fan can be fixed on North and
East walls. Geysers should be South-East since it is 'Agneya' corner and Geyser
is associated with heat
Toilet: -According to Vastu
principles, Toilets and Bathroom should be situated separately. These days, it
is not possible because of paucity of space. As such, these are built attached
with each other within the house. The following points need special attention
for such construction.
1. Never build toilets in the
direction of eastern corner or at "Ishan angle".
2. These should be constructed
mainly towards South or West.
3. The face should be towards south
or West while discharging stool.
Balcony: - It should be constructed in
the North-East to achieve good health and wealth and if in the houses already
constructed, the balcony is in South-West, it should be covered with glass or
screens.
Cowshed: - It has been scientifically
proved that the cow discharges Methane gas. We exhale carbon dioxide, which is
harmful. Methane nullifies the pollution of Carbon dioxide. Therefore, cows
should be kept in the Northwest as far as possible.
Children's
Room:
- The children are future of the nation. If the parents are able to give right
direction to the children at their tender age then tomorrow they will turn into
disciplined citizens. The children's room, too, should be constructed in the
North-West corner but the bathroom should be arranged in above noted direction
only.
Doors: - The doors should be in the
North and East. When someone enters through the door, the waves emerging from
the doors affect his mind because the magnetic waves always flow around us.
Some painting or window should be opposite each door.
Drawing
Room:
- It should be in North-West, South or west direction. In the traditional
drawing rooms mattresses, covered with white sheets of cloth are spread in the
entire room and round pillows are kept in South and West walls. Similarly, in
the modern drawing room, the furniture should be kept in South and West
directions. As far as possible the open space should be maximum in North and
East direction
Dining
Room:
- In olden days the meals were taken in the kitchen itself but now the dining
room has become an integral part of the drawing room. However the dining table
should be kept in South-East.
Delivery
Room:
- If the delivery of child is to be made in the house, it should be done in
North-West rooms.
Entertainment
Room:
- This is an important place and the suitable directions for it is North-West
or South.
Food
Storage:
- The store should be in the kitchen and in the South-East corner.
Garages: -It should be in the
South-East or North-West corner but load on North and East Walls be kept at the
minimum.
General
Room:
-Though, it is sparingly used; yet it should be constructed in the North-West.
Guest
Room:
- It should be in North-West corner.
Kitchen: -The kitchen must be
situated in fire angle, i.e. in South-East. The face of the cook should be
towards the East. The water tap in kitchen should be in the North-East
direction. It is better if the stone on which food is cooked, is of red colour.
Laundry: - As the hot water is also
used while laundering the clothes, the South-East corner has been considered
best for it but the flow of drains should be towards North-East.
Main
Switch:
-The junction of electric cables of the house should be in the South-East
corner along with the main switch.
Main
Gate:
-The main gate is dependent upon the direction on which the plot lies. However,
Both-East and West directions are considered best for the main gate of the
house.
Mezzanine
Floor:
-According to the rules of Vastu-Shastra we have to keep the South-West portion
higher. Therefore, the mezzanine floor should be constructed in, South or West.
Open
Space:
-In every plot more open space should be kept in North, East and North-East
than in South and West.
Portico: - It should be in the Borth-East
and its height should be less than that of the main roof.
Patient's
Rooms:
- It is best to keep this room in South-West or North-West corner. If the head
of the patient is kept in the South, he recovers early.
Place
of Worship:
-This is the place from where good ideas flow. If it is in the North-East and
the face of the idol is towards North or East then the property of the house is
assured. To gain knowledge, one should offer worship keeping his face Northward
and should sit near the northern wall and to gain economic prosperity one
should keep one's face towards East and should sit in the Eastern side of the
room.
Servant
Quarters:
-These should be in the North-West corner. But load on the north and east walls
should be kept at a minimum. This will keep the servants also happy.
Staircase: - According to the
principles of Vastu Shastra the staircase can be constructed in any direction
except North-East. If in some old house, the staircase is in the North-East,
then a room should be constructed in South-East to lessen its ill-effects.
Study
Room:
-The North-East corner is best for a study room. If the study room and place of
worship room are adjacent, then it is considered most beneficial.
Safe
(Cash):
-Petty cash for daily expenses should be kept in the North. Jewelry and other
valuables should be kept inside a safe in the South. This adds to prosperity.
Terrace: - It should be in the
North-East.
Trees: - These should not be in
North and East but in South and West only.
Veranda:-This should be in the East
as this is also a form of open space.
Water
Tank/Overhead Water-Tank:
- It is best to keep it in the North-West but could be kept in West also.
Well
& Tube well:
- Water, too, enjoys great importance in Vastu-Shastra, so it should be in the
Eishan
Kona
or North-East corner which is the most suited direction for it. It has been
observed that if a well or tube well was in any other direction, the house
owner suffers heavy losses. But when it was closed and the tube well was
constructed in the North-East, the owner started earning profits. Given below
are the directions and their effects.
North Peace and Happiness
East Extreme wealth
South Shortage of female
members or miseries.
West Stomach and sexual
troubles among male members.
Northwest
Enemy creates trouble.
South- West Disagreement with
the son.
South- West Fear of death.
Center
of the House Causes Heavy monetary
losses
Windows: -These should be opposite to
the doors so that both the positive and negative cycles could be completed.
This provides happiness and progress to the family.
Watch
& Ward:
- The guard- room is always constructed by the main gate. Its height should
never be more than seven feet.
Weights
& Equipment:
- For these the South-West direction is considered to be the best.
Yoga
& Meditation:
- These should always be done in the open and in the North-East direct.

site are very important.
The

sides.

constructing overhead tanks. This is a bit controversial subject and hence one
should be very careful
in locating the
overhead tanks and also the water tanks above the ground level.
12. Heavy machinery has to be
installed in south, west or south-west in the factory.
13. Raw materials storage, whether
inside the factory or sheds outside, should be in

Vastu for Hotels
Vastu
for hotels helps a great deal in ensuring that the hotel will witness a booming
business, with the arrival of more and more number of guests. There are a
plenty of things that are taken into consideration, while suggesting the right
Vasthu remedies for hotels like the selection of site, location of the kitchen,
placement of different electronic equipments, placement of reception counter,
location of different rooms and many more.
Here are some Vastu tips for hotels:
*
Ground floor would be apt for
the reception and restaurant purpose.
*
There
must be adequate provision for light, ventilation and a large open space for
the kitchen, so ground floor can be used. For placing grinders, ovens etc,
southeast corner would be appropriate.
*
First floor can be used for
constructing conference hall.
*
For
balcony purpose, choose eastern or northern portions.
*
If
you wish to construct a storeroom, then opt for southern, western or
southwestern zone.
*
For installation of AC,
southeast location would be apt.
*
For
electric generator and transformer installation, southeast direction is
absolutely fine.
*
Washbasin
placement should never be in the centre of the hall. It can be done in the
north, east or
northeast directions.
*
If
you want to construct water bodies to attract tourists, then the right place
for their construction is in the direction of north, east or northeast. Also,
these directions are appropriate for the main entrance.
Bhoomi Poojan
It
is extremely necessary to worship the land before the construction work starts.
Baisakh,
Shravan,
Kartik,Margshirsh and Paush these four months are auspicious for the worship of
the land.
Auspiciousness
and inauspiciousness of the Auspicious (opportune) Moment.
*
As
far as possible the auspicious (opportune) moment should not coincide with the
extra month (Adhik Mas), the zero month, the lunar month and the sunset.
*
Tuesday,
Saturday and Sunday should be avoided.
*
Monday
and Thursday are very auspicious.
*
The
auspicious (opportune) moment should not fall in Hadpaksha, mourning period.
Divaskarma (performing rituals relating to dates) and Shraadha ceremony
(religious rites after the death of a person). If the auspicious (opportune)
moment falls in Jaishth or Aashadh, Sickness or unnecessary increase in
expenditure results.
*
If
the auspicious (opportune) moment falls in Bhadrapad or Ashwin month,
expenditure increases unnecessarily, and the situation becomes tense for no
reason.
*
If
the auspicious (opportune) moment is celebrated in the month of Kartik, Paush
or Magh the construction is delayed. There is also a possibility of theft of
the building material. Some provoking incidents take place. If there is a
conjunction of auspicious stars in the sky at the auspicious (opportune) moment
it gives good results. In this age of science even well-known and highly
qualified people start their new enterprises at the auspicious moment. The
worship of the land should be done in the east or the north-east corner of the
plot at the opportune moment
