SWAR VIGYAN
Swar Vigyan (also called Shiva Swarodaya) is an ancient Indian
yogic science that studies how the flow of breath through the nostrils influences
our mind, body, and actions. It comes from the traditions of Yoga and Tantra.
Main Idea
According to Swar Vigyan, the breath does not flow equally in both
nostrils all the time.
Usually one nostril is more active, and this changes roughly every 60–90
minutes.
Each nostril flow is connected to a specific energy channel (Nadi):
- Left Nostril – Ida Nadi
- Moon energy 🌙
- Calm, cooling, mental activities
- Good for: study, meditation, planning, spiritual work
- Right Nostril – Pingala Nadi
- Sun energy ☀️
- Active, heating, physical energy
- Good for: work, exercise, business decisions
- Both Nostrils – Sushumna
- Spiritual balance
- Best time for meditation and higher awareness
Practical Uses of Swar Vigyan
People use it for:
- Choosing the right time to start work
- Improving health and energy balance
- Meditation and spiritual practices
- Making important decisions
- Vastu and astrological remedies
Example
- If the right nostril is active, it is considered good
for physical work, meetings, or travel.
- If the left nostril is active, it is better for learning,
writing, or calm activities.
Simple Way to Check
- Place a finger under your nose.
- Exhale gently.
- The side with stronger airflow is the active Swar.
