DISTANCE OF SPECIFIC DEVATA FROM
THE BRAHMASTHAN
To locate a specific devata (Vastu deity) and its distance from
the Brahmasthan, lay an 81-pada grid over your floor plan. The devatas
are mapped on the inner and outer circles of the mandala, and their exact
distance depends on the overall dimensions of your home. [1, 2, 3]
1. Identify the Brahmasthan (The Centre)
The Brahmasthan is the geometric heart of your house. [1, 2, 3]
- Calculate the grid: Divide the total
length and width of your home by 9. This creates a \(9 \times 9\) grid of
81 equal squares.
- Locate the center: The absolute center
\(3 \times 3\) block (9 squares) is the Brahmasthan. [1, 2]
2. Locate the Devata by Zone and Ring
The Vastu Purusha Mandala contains 45 deities arranged in concentric
rings (orbits) radiating outward from the Brahmasthan: [1, 2]
- The Core (Brahmasthan): Ruled by Lord
Brahma, flanked by 4 inner deities (Aryama, Vivaswan, Mitra,
Bhudhar).
- Inner Ring (Deva Vithi): Sits directly
around the centre. Examples include Isa (Northeast), Parjanya
(East), and Agni (Southeast).
- Middle Ring (Manushya Vithi): Found along
the outer limits of the rooms. Examples include Jayanta (East), Grihakshata
(North), and Sugriva (South).
- Outer Ring (Paisacha Vithi): The walls
and boundary edges of the property. Examples include Roga (West) or
Shikhi (South). [1, 2, 3, 4]
3. Calculate the Distance
Distances are measured in padas (grid units) from the center of
the Brahmasthan.
- Formula: \(\text{Distance} =
(\text{Number of squares from the center}) \times (\frac{\text{Total
Length of your house}}{9})\)
- Formula: Distance= (Number of squares
from the center) x ( Total length of your house divided/ by 9)
Example Calculation:
If your house is 12 meters wide and 12 meters long, each of the 81 grid squares
is \(1.33 \text{ meters} \ (12 \div 9)\).
If a devata resides 2 squares out from the Brahmasthan center, their
physical distance is \(2 \times 1.33 \text{ meters} = 2.66 \text{ meters}\).
Use digital Vastu compass and grid tools like the VastuAgent Mandala to overlay exact devatas and
measurements onto your floor plan. [1, 2]
