What Is Metatron’s Cube Symbol and Why Is It
Significant?
Most recognized for its complex geometric figure
composed of circles and
lines, Metatron’s cube is regarded by many as sacred, and has been used for
understanding the universe and several intangible ideas and beliefs.
History of
the Metatron’s Cube
The
term Metatron first appeared in Kabbalistic and Talmud
texts of Judaism and is said to be a name of an angel or a guardian. In Jewish
legends and myths, it’s said that this angel created the cube out of his soul.
Metatron’s cube represents all the geometric shapes found in all creations and
is associated with the belief that the God is the geometer of the universe.
1- The
Sacred Geometry and the Metatron’s Cube
Metatron’s
cube is closely related to sacred geometry, which has existed in many forms
throughout the history. The term geometry was
derived from the Greek words’ geos and metron that means earth and to measure respectively. It simply refers to the
study of shapes and mathematical formulas that can be found in nature.
Here’s how the mystical symbol influenced various cultures for
centuries, along with its significance today.
It’s said that the practice originates from old
civilizations including the Sumerians, Egyptians, Phoenicians, Minoans and the
Greeks. Sacred geometry was an art that was traditionally restricted to
the priesthood and was therefore called sacred. It was believed that things were created according to a
specific geometric plan, and the study of sacred geometry would uncover the
secrets of creation.
Metatron’s cube is said to contain all the
geometric shapes and patterns that exist, from the spirals of snail shells to
the hexagonal shapes of a honeycomb. There are also geometric codes in flowers,
snowflakes, DNA molecules, organic life forms and heavenly bodies.
2-
Metatron’s Cube and the Platonic Solids
Metatron’s cube contains the most common shapes in nature including
circles and lines. Technically, it features 13 circles held together by
straight lines from the midpoint of each circle. There’s a central circle
surrounded by six circles, forming a flower-like shape, and another set of six
circles extending from it.
The series of connected lines form various shapes
called the Platonic Solids, which are said to be the basis for every design
in the universe. Some of these shapes are the pyramids, cubes, octahedron,
dodecahedron and icosahedron. These geometrical shapes appear repeatedly and
randomly in nature, which made the ancient Greeks associate them with the five
elements.
Meaning and
Symbolism of Metatron’s Cube
Many have used Metatron’s cube to understand the intangible aspects
of life. It might appear somewhat esoteric, but here are some of its meanings:
· Balance and Harmony – In sacred geometry, the
symbol represents the balance of energy within the universe. If you look
closely at the symbol, you’ll notice how all things are connected regardless of
how seemingly small or insignificant they are—and pulling one string will
affect everything. The circles are connected by lines which show the harmony of
all things. It’s also said that the circles of Metatron’s cube symbolize
the feminine, while the straight lines represent the masculine. Many use the symbol as an inspiration for
personal transformation.
· A Symbol of Creation – Metatron’s cube is said
to represent all the geometric shapes found in nature. Ancient civilizations
and the mystics regarded it as the map of creation.
Nowadays, some scholars still believe that the symbol is the building block of
everything in the universe, and even reveals the inner knowledge of the divine.
